Driving down to start the Railtrail. For a good suggestion, READ ON !

Increasingly we have people driving to Central to start the Railtrail. A good TIP for those people is for you to drive to Middlemarch and leave your car with us for either secure inside or outside storage. Catch our bus that day to Clyde where you stay the night and then start the trail the next morning, cycling back to your car. This way you don't have to wait for the bus to take you back to Clyde. As most people will finish around lunch time, if they do 4 days on the trail, you will effectively be 5 hours earlier on the road home or to your next destination. Bookings on Railtrail under pressure for March and April

Please don't book airfares prior to getting your accommodation sorted on the trail. We are increasingly finding people are expecting that accommodation will be available and are booking airfares prior to booking accommodation. This not only leads to disapointment, but also loss of money on airfares. Please contact us for information on availability, we will only be to pleased to help.

Otago Central Rail Trail Transport - The Railtrail Express

Trail Journeys offers a passenger service on the Railtrail to transport people, their bikes and their bags.  Known as the "RAILTRAIL EXPRESS" the service picks up and delivers customers baggage to their accommodation, transfers passengers on the trail and transports bikes. The Railtrail Express runs the main thoroughfare from Clyde to Middlemarch and delivers luggage along this route.

Our late model buses, vans and trailers are on the Railtrail daily over the season and can transport you in comfort to the beginning of the trail at Clyde either before you start or after you have finished the trail.

Main Season : 1st October- 31st April
Off Season : May 1st - 30th September
The Railtrail Express provides a service between Clyde and Middlemarch each day over the main season. Where possible our buses will try and schedule the service which best suits your needs, but this is dependent on ours and other clients requirements on the day. As an indication we attempt to have our service leaving Middlemarch by 3pm each day, but this time can vary between 1 pm and 5 pm depending on the time of the season, other passengers needs and the extra services we may need to provide.

Please note that during the off-season we run our the Trailrail Express service according to demand. Please contact us for more information on our off season services.

Please contact us for pricing for larger groups. We offer concession transport rates for large groups.

Please note that other arrangements will need to be made for places off the trail. We will do our best to give you information on how this can be arranged. Accomodation in the towns of Waipiata, St Bathans and Naseby will require special arrangements. Most of the pubs in these towns will transport you to and from the trail if you are staying with them.
