Trail Journeys has packaged up a variety of independent cycle tours on the Otago Central Railtrail. This tour would be one of the more popular options. To cycle the trail over 5 days gives you plenty of opportunities to explore the Central Otago area.We offer options to finish off with a trip on the Taieri Gorge Excursion Train to Dunedin or to return to Clyde on our bus. (Neither options included in price)

This independent tour offers you the opportunity to meet new people when you cycle along, at your accommodation or over diner after an exhilerating day on the trail. It has been said that the trail trip is going from one experience to another, using a cycle as a means of getting there. In other words, "It is not only about the bike"

Activities (More Info)

Along the trail you will have opportunities to take part in off trail activities. Trail Journeys can arrange these for you and would recommend the following. In Alexandra you have the opportunity to travel by boat on the mighty Clutha River down the Roxburgh Gorge to Doctors point. A BBQ evening tea can be arranged. In Naseby the International Curling Rink provides the opportunity to take part in the ancient Scottish sport of Curling. (Many more, just ask our team in the office)

World of Difference (More Info)

As you pass through the spectacular scenery that Central Otago offers, you can understand why it is called "The World of Difference". A landscape that is unique to "Central" (as the locals call it), is embraced as you cycle your way along the trail. You can travel the world and not see anything that resembles the uniqueness of the area, the giant rock tors, the unusual rolling tussock covered hills and the trout laden rivers just add to the experience.
