Our 2 Day Lake Dunstan E-Bike and Shuttle is perfect for those wanting to cycle at a relaxed pace, with time to enjoy the local wineries and activities in the area.

On day one, we'll shuttle you from Queenstown to Smith's way, where the trail follows the glistening Lake Dunstan from Smith's Way to the Cromwell Heritage Precinct. The leisurely pace of this itinerary means there is plenty of time to add a wine tour, Highlands fast lap or museum entry to your trip.

After a relaxing night in Cromwell, you'll continue on the Lake Dunstan Trail along the most popular section of trail through the Cromwell Gorge to Clyde where you can enjoy a drink or do a little more riding.

We'll shuttle you back to Queenstown or continue on to the Otago Central Rail Trail or Roxburgh Gorge Trail.

We'll provide bikes, move your luggage, find the perfect accommodation, arrange any extra activities and transport you to where you need to be. All you need to do is enjoy the ride!

If you don't require the shuttle to and from Queenstown, we can remove this from your trip.

Day 1
Lake Dunstan Trail, Bannockburn and Cromwell : Cycle 16.4km

Meeting in Queenstown in the morning, we'll shuttle you to the start of the Lake Dunstan Trail at Smith's Way. A 16.4km bike ride along Lake Dunstan will take you back into Cromwell Heritage Precinct. Once here, take the afternoon to relax or cycle 6km to Bannockburn for a delicious winery lunch. You can also visit the Highlands Motorsport museum, take a fast lap around the track or add on a Bendigo Ruins tour.

Day 2
Cromwell to Clyde: Cycle 38km

After breakfast, you'll join back up with the Lake Dunstan Trail where a 13.3km ride will take you to Cornish Point overlooking the Clutha / Mata au River. This point is your last taste of civilisation before riding the 25km trail to Clyde. This section features major structures including a suspension bridge and clip on trails. Enjoy lunch in Clyde with a well deserved cold drink at a local restaurant or bar. The afternoon is then yours to explore before returning to Queenstown.

Electric Bike

E-bikes have made cycle touring possible and pleasurable for a wide range of people. They are simple to operate, and eliminate much of the cycling strain from legs and knees. Our European-designed E-bikes are built with comfort and ease of operation in mind, and feature unisex frames, 29” wheels, front suspension and proven Bosch electronics.

Standard accommodation is the perfect option for those looking for a clean, simple and comfortable way to enjoy their cycling holiday. Almost all locations will include ensuite facilities. These are a mix of motels, B&Bs, lodges and cottages.

Superior Accommodation

Economy accomodation is for those looking for a clean, basic no frills style accommodation. They have a mix of ensuited rooms and shared bathroom facilities. Economy level accommodation can be added to your trip as a discount - based on availability.

Winery Tour

Book a private and relaxing wine tour to some of our local Otago winegrowers. The Otago region is the world’s southern most commercial wine growing region and famous worldwide for our Pinot Noir.

There are a number of quality vineyards to choose from, some with views that will take your breath away. Our team can help you plan your itinerary so that you can include a visit - and a tasting - at one of our Otago vineyards.

Highlands Power Hour

The Highlands Motorsport track is exclusively yours to spend as much time on during the hour as you like. Do one lap or 10, take a scenic lap – stopping to take pictures from vantage points that the public usually do not have access to, or put your pedal power to the test to record your fastest lap time.

Highlands Car Museum

The Highlands Museum is home to the some of the rarest cars in NZ motorsport history but also some hidden gems that include an authentic American sheriff’s patrol car, a larger than life Transformer’s Bumblebee action figure on display and even several arcade driving games.

Grading

Introductory to Moderate
4

This trip is graded introductory to moderate and is suited to regular cyclists with a good level of fitness. E-bikes are suitable if ridden appropriately and manage battery life. There is a mix of introductory trails and moderate trails with some remote sections. The moderate trails have features such as switch backs, narrow tracks, hills, rocks, and tight turns.
