eBikes are very popular and make cycling trips very accessible for non-cyclists. We have a large fleet of eBikes of varying styles, from Step-Through to standard Mountain Bike style.
The extra boost provided by the electric pedal-assist mode opens up more options, allowing people of different fitness levels to cycle together or to let less fit cyclists take on greater distances or routes that they may otherwise consider too tough for their current capability.
There is absolutely no motor noise with eBikes being battery-powered, and a nightly top-up using just the power outlet at your overnight accommodation will have you fully charged for the next stage.

Our fleet of 400+ bikes ensures our clients are individually fitted with the correct bike for their needs. These bikes are selected specifically for use on the trail, and we have a variety of styles, including power assist e-bikes. Each bike is fully serviced after every trip so you can be confident in the quality of the equipment provided.
Trail Journeys itineraries are creative and very affordable. We offer different levels of accommodation and comfort so that even the most budget conscious can treat themselves to a cycling holiday on New Zealand’s most celebrated trail. These trips are great value for money as you only pay for what you want - our self-guided itineraries allow you to explore Central Otago on your terms. We handle the logistics, so all that's left for you to do is enjoy the cycling and sightseeing.
We were the first to offer bike hire on the Otago Central Rail Trail in 2000 and today are the largest transport provider on the trail. Not only do we provide pick-up services from Queenstown and Dunedin, but bags, people and bikes are also moved daily along the length of the trail. You can be assured of our support should an unforeseen circumstances arise.
E-bikes have made cycle touring possible and pleasurable for a wide range of people.
They are simple to operate, and eliminate much of the cycling strain from legs and knees.
Our European-designed E-bikes are built with comfort and ease of operation in mind, and feature unisex frames, 29” wheels, front suspension and proven Bosch electronics.
Our custom designed bikes have been built to specifically handle the trail conditions found on the Otago Central Rail Trail and other New Zealand's Cycle Trails.
Comfort, reliability and practicality were the guiding factors in our revolutionary designs that include: puncture resistant tyres, comfortable gel seats, reliable Shimano componentry, front suspension and strong lightweight rear carrier with carrier bags or a set of panniers (saddle bags)*
